The primary role of the team is to deal with the underwriting, processing and approval / referral of loan applications received from members. The team approves the majority of all applications. Staff from the team constitute the Combined Authority and decide on applications as required by policy. The team also provides support to the Credit Committee and Board of Directors in relation to loan applications and lending related issues .
MAIN DUTIES
- Assess credit applications including personal, business loan applications and overdraft applications and renewals.
- Approving loan applications within approval authorities / policy
- Contacting members relating to ongoing applications / decision outcomes
- Preparing and presenting complex loan applications to the Lending Team Manager / Credit Committee
- Oversee the daily resourcing of team operations.
- Oversee the work of members of the Operations Team.
- Along with other Assistant Managers in team, manage staffing resources.
- Manage, on a daily basis, the processing of loan applications, with special attention to allocating categories of loans to staff to ensure a timely processing of all loan types.
- Perform other duties assigned to other Assistant Managers in Lending Team, if required.
- Deputise for the Lending Team Manager in their absence, if required.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability and confidence to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to work under own initiative with minimal direction
- Provide mentoring & coaching to peers, reportees and new staff
- Ability to work to deadlines and targets, can prioritise tasks under pressure
- Willingness to take on new tasks and projects
Qualifications and Experience
- Must hold at a minimum of a QFA, CUA or equivalent that also satisfies the Minimum Competency Qualification in line with the requirements of the Central Bank of Irelands Minimum Competency Code
- Meet & Satisfy Fitness & Probity requirements
- A relevant third level or professional qualification an advantage
- Comprehensive knowledge with 3 years relevant lending experience
- Business Lending, Mortgage or overdrafts experience is an advantage.
